ProductIntroduction
6542 high-speed steel is a representative grade of tungsten‑molybdenum general‑purpose high‑speed steel. It is a high‑alloy steel containing multiple alloying elements and belongs to the ledeburitic steel type, featuring good casting, forging, welding, and machining properties.
Product Feature
Outstanding hardness and red hardness: hardness ≤255HB in the factory-annealed condition; after standard heat treatment, hardness can reach 63–66HRC, and ≥64HRC after salt bath furnace treatment. Even when the cutting temperature exceeds 600°C, hardness does not drop significantly, meeting the high-temperature requirements of high-speed cutting.
Balanced strength and toughness: better toughness, wear resistance and hot workability than conventional steels. Carbides are uniformly distributed and fine-grained; molybdenum also suppresses brittle phase precipitation, giving a bending strength of 3500–4000MPa, enabling it to withstand high impact loads without brittle fracture.
Clear heat treatment characteristics: preheat at 730–840°C, then austenitize at 1210–1230°C and quench in oil; temper twice at 540–560°C (2 hours each time).
